2021 Rogers Scholar

Superintendent Danny Adkins congratulates Allyson Springer on being selected as Floyd County Schools’ 2021 Rogers Scholar.

To be considered for the Rogers Scholar program, a student must be a sophomore, in the 45 county service area and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Students must also want to develop their leadership and technology skills as well as entrepreneurship and community service. A total of 60 students will become Rogers Scholars. Initially, one student per county is selected. The 15 remaining spots will go to the next 15 students with the highest sores earned in the scoring process.

Superintendent Adkins comments, “Congratulations Allyson! We’re very proud of you for being selected as our representative for the 2021 Rogers Scholar program. Allyson attends Prestonsburg High School and has been accepted into the Floyd County Early College Academy for the upcoming school year.”

Being a Rogers Scholar gives students like Allyson access to scholarships at 19 colleges and universities in Kentucky. This summer, Allyson will attend a 5 day program with 30 other Rogers Scholars where she will be able to develop her leadership skills, participate in team building exercises and the opportunity to work with professionals in engineering, healthcare and video production.

Adkins concludes, “Being selected as a Rogers Scholar is prestigious on its own but this opportunity also gives Allyson the chance to grow and to start honing the skills she has in order to be one of this region’s future leaders. Please join us in congratulating Allyson.”

Allyson is the daughter of Drexel and Kristina Springer of Prestonsburg. She is a member of the academic team, Science Olympiad team, Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) and the National Honor Society at Prestonsburg High School. In the future, Allyson plans on working in the medical field.
